about me

Hi there.

My name is vahnee. I’m 30 and live in Los Angeles with a spouse-unit, a baby girl, Spice, a dog, two cats and a bunch of squirrels. I’m a geek, mom, wife, knitter, snowboarder, craftster, cook, web developer, animal lover, liberal, cynic, book-lover, romantic, gardener, wannabe surfer, fast driver, twitterer… the list goes on.

I started blogging to tell my story, to tell what my crazy bizarre life was like. I wanted people to see that they weren’t alone, that everyone goes through these things. And then I stopped for a while. I felt like there was too much being put out there. I felt the need for privacy. I took a break for a few years and then started up again, with renewed optimism.

Now, everyone and their poodle has a blog and I’m doing it because there’s too much information out there, and it’s hard and overwhelming to sort through the madness. I blog what I do, what I use, how things work, and the like in the hopes that it’ll help someone else out there save a little time or effort.

We’ve all been through it – life in the fast lane. We all have those days where we kiss our loved ones in the rain, just like we all have those days where the toilet clogs and overflows. In generations past, we lived in more villages and less single family homes and the result was more people to network with, to ask the best way to unclog a toilet, or get some tips on romantic locales. Now, we have the internets, and it’s up to us to find new ways to connect with one another, to make our own villages. As John Donne said:

No man is an Island, entire of itself; every man is a piece of the Continent, a part of the main; if a clod be washed away by the sea, Europe is the less, as well as if a promontory were, as well as if a manor of thy friends or of thine own were; any man’s death diminishes me, because I am involved in Mankind; And therefore never send to know for whom the bell tolls; It tolls for thee.

Be involved with mankind. You can start by doing something incredibly easy: join my village.
