Very slow-motion baby today.

Knitting. Working on the second side of the dress. Bored by the pattern – am already rewriting it in my head for circular needles, cables, and some fancy edging.
Last night, the spouse and I made homemade pizza again. In an effort to make a deep-dish style pizza, I stretched out my half of the dough and pressed it into a 10-1/2 inch skillet that had been thoroughly rubbed down with olive oil and lightly dusted with cornmeal. I sprinkled some minced garlic, chopped basil, red pepper flakes and sea salt, laid the mozzarella on top and drizzled with a little more olive oil.
It went into the oven for about 30 minutes at 425 deg. I wish I had a picture to show you but I ate it too quickly. By far, the best pizza I’ve ever had.

I’m so enjoying this season’s cherimoyas!
The inaugural itself will be at the Capitol, which was built by slaves who baked the bricks, sawed the timber and laid the stone for its foundation. When Mr. Obama delivers his inaugural address, he will be looking out across the National Mall, which was once a slave market, beyond the White House, also built by slaves, to the Lincoln Memorial, honoring the president who freed the slaves.
CNN: Monumental change still hard to believe (via heilemann) (via inauguration)
Inauguration morning! In a rare display of.. errr, something, Spice is happy to play on the floor while we watch the inauguration on CNN via ustream.tv.
The more I read John Adams, the more I’ve been disappointed in just how far we’ve fallen in the nobility of our ideals. Here’s to hoping Obama brings just a little bit of that back to the country.

Koontz Hardware in WeHo. Crazy place: narrow aisles, eclectic stuff, lots of salespeople, but so incredibly helpful!
I’ve been reading “John Adams” by David McCullough. Amazingly good, rarely dry, and utterly fascinating.
